Brief
The Bremer Bank in Minot, North Dakota combined services from an existing downtown branch and a smaller branch across town. The project followed the Bremer Playbook – a book of design guidelines that Snow Kreilich Architects developed for the bank’s entire system and branding efforts. This bank is one of the first new builds that incorporated these guidelines.
Project Summary
The Approach
Designed under the Hub typology, the Minot location features a cross-laminated and glulam timber structure, in a form reminiscent of the trestle bridges of the region. The main structural elements are metal panels and high-performance glazing set outboard of the enclosure. The combination of materials binds together the historical and contemporary context of the region.
The Programming
The customer plaza opens to a double-height space to the south and a balcony to the north. The branch has three "partner tables" rather than a traditional bank teller line for improved service and stronger banker-customer relationships. There are also private offices, public and private meeting spaces, open workstations, a drive-thru lane, and an outdoor terrace.

Body
The redesign of the typical teller line creates a more casual, interdependent dynamic between customer and banker. Incorporating the plaza spaces prioritizes the customer and respective community. By rethinking the banking experience, we can create a space that is more accessible, equitable, and encourages financial goals and growth.
